All submissions need to be typed and double-spaced, following standard manuscript guidelines. For a good example of manuscript format, please check out this site. Short stories should be under 7500 words. Please use MS Word or Rich Text (RTF) formatting. Currently we are only publishing short stories in the zine; stories of novella length or longer are welcome but will only be published on our website. Please remember that we are a genre-based publication; science fiction, fantasy, horror, alternate history, and even well-crafted mystery and humor pieces are all acceptable submissions. We also like to recommend that you read a few issues of the zine to give you a feel for what type of fiction we publish.
We’re always on the lookout for new reviewers to cover books, movies, and television. Feel free to send us your reviews! We’re desperately looking for more people to review local science-fiction conventions. If you’re interested in reviewing a particular convention, let us know at least a month in advance and we’ll try to procure a press badge for you from the convention.
Convention reviews should be 300–1000 words. Be sure to hit the highlights (guests of honor, special events, themes, etc.), convention logistics (how smooth was registration? did their scheduled events run on a timely manner? was the staff friendly?), and any panels/events that you particularly enjoyed. And don’t be afraid to add the personal touches. It’s also helpful if you can send us a scan of the program book. And just like with submitting fiction, it’s always helpful to read some of our previously published con reviews to give you a feel for the tone of the zine.
Please do not send original artwork. When submitting electronically, artwork needs to be 300 dpi and formatted as either an EPS, TIF, or JPG file.
We are not a professional magazine and cannot afford to pay for submissions at this point. We are however an excellent resource for the up-and-coming writer/artist to get their works out to the public. If your submission is accepted for the e-zine, you may be sent printed copies on request.
Creators will retain all rights to their works.
Send electronic submissions to: email@example.com.
We no longer accept hardcopy submissions.
